quality time you have spent with your son(s), tell them about the fellowship
between the families at our family events, tell them about our upcoming events. Please get with your chief to help handout
flyers for this event at the local schools!!

Chief: Kurt “Big Bear” Leibensperger 330-699-4734,
330-606-1944 kurtleib@hotmail.com
Tonka Hey!
Summer is winding down fast, and with it, my year as chief. Andrew and I
have had fun as the nation chief, and have met and worked with a lot of you.
We as a group are fortunate to have so many good people in this
nation! Incoming chief John Waller and his council have many new
events planned for next year, along with a number of old favorites, too!
But,
before I go, there are a few events I urge you to support and attend.
First up...our nation summer picnic, hosted by the Navajo on Sunday, August
10th at Clays Park. Then our fall campout will be on September 26-28 at
Camp Fitch on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. Your council has made
the decision to help underwrite the cost of this campout FOR EVERY FATHER AND
SON IN THE NATION! Actually, the price we pay as a nation to camp has
gone up this year; however, we will be spending some of our nation reserve
money to make this campout cost less than last year. Hopefully, with
the price of gas, this will make this event affordable for more families.
Finally,
we will be doing another recruitment event at the Green Y on Saturday September
6th, and each tribe has agreed to do some recruitment in area schools.
More
information on all of the above in this month's Smoke, and I look forward to
seeing you at one (and hopefully, all) of these events!
War Chief: John “Sits By Fire” Waller 330-867-5726,
330-256-4430 john.waller@wilsontool.com
Nice job
on the drive-in movie to the Mandan. It
was a fun movie to watch and a beautiful night to be outside. Well done!
Sammy,
Jacob and I hope all of you are enjoying the summer as much as we are. Look forward to seeing you all at the
upcoming Family Picnic at Clays’ Park on August 10th sponsored by the Navajo.
Sachem: Scott “Singin’ Moose” Summers 330-644-9110,
330-606-6965 scotts@rolandus.com
Last week I attended our longhouse
budget meeting and it pleases me to say that we have a great group of Dad's
stepping up into leadership positions for next year. I will be leaving
the Manikiki Nation in good hands and I will enjoy watching at our last Father
Son banquet from a table with my Cherokee tribe mates.
I am very proud to say that
Kyle" Wild Moose" will be receiving his sixth straight perfect
attendance medallion. Kyle is now 12 and our participation in Indian
Guides will soon be coming to an end. I still hope to put together a
Trailblazer tribe of older boys next year but our participation in a monthly
event will be increasingly difficult.
We are both excited about the events
we have left and it is appropriate the we are finishing up at the Fall campout
at Fitch. Our first Indian Guides event was a Spring campout at Fitch in
2002. This has been a rewarding experience that Kyle and I will talk
about for the rest of lives. I can only hope that Kyle will some day have
a son and join Indian Guides. I will be saving our bead necklaces and
leather vests just in case I have the opportunity to pass it on to another
generation.

I need
back the sign in sheets for the Spring Campout and the Aeros Baseball game.
Contact me when you get the time so I can update attendance before next
Longhouse. There wasn’t a sign in sheet
for the drive in and I will be passing one around at the next Longhouse.
A couple
of updates about future events that may have changed since the budget meeting
are as follows:
The
Haunted Hayride Y-NOAH may be moving to Boettler Park.
At this
time all Sundays in December are open for our Father/Son Banquet, some Fridays
and Saturdays are still open, but the 13th is booked.
January is
booked up and at this time only February 7th and 8th are penciled in for
us so the individual tribe events may have to be switched
Also if anyone
else was at the WKDD Kids day and picked up our headbands and feathers PLEASE
contact me!

I’ll start with the usual, we had a
great time at the Drive In, and we stayed for both movies! We’re looking
forward to Clay’s Park, can’t wait to get the Comanche Tribe on the rolling
barrel!!
Then want to say that I’m excited
about the upcoming year, there’s going to be some great new events planned, and
the idea of an open month where the tribes can plan their own event sounds
great. Hoping the Mighty Comanche can
take on the Arapaho in a no holds barred corn-hole tournament!!
I’ll offer my house for an upcoming
Comanche Tribe meeting, maybe Saturday August 16th. We can have a
fire, cooks some hotdogs and marshmallows; maybe even do some pies in the pie
iron!

drive-in. I know my boys did. If anyone has pictures from the drive-in,
please forward them to me and I'll include them with the next website update. See you at Clay's Park!

What Da
Hey! It was great seeing you all at the Drive in Movie I hope you had
fun. Looking forward to Clays Park Please let me know if you’re planning
to camp there the night before. We have a great line up of events lined
up for next year which will be fun and affordable. My Reign of
Terror will soon end and our most experienced new Chief “Big Bear” Larry and
“Running Bear” Kyle Murgatroyd will be leading us in to a much brighter
future. Happy August Birthday to Andrew Leibensperger!

The
Arapaho tribe is looking forward to the summer picnic and fall campout.
We're happy to be planning the father-son banquet again and thank Camp Y-Noah
for their hospitality in allowing us to use the dining hall as it will save us
a great deal of money.

Mellon 330-645-9456 330-819-7762 tmellon@primebusinesssolutions.net
I just wanted to encourage everyone to come out for
the event at Clays Park. It should be a
blast. It will be a great way to spend
time with your family and other families that are part of the nation. Please keep the time set aside for the Fall
Campout as well at Camp Fitch. If we
have half as much fun as we did at Y Noah it will be a great success. I will see you soon.
Cherokee:

Tonka hey
Cherokee Brothers,
Please
welcome our new incoming Chief, Rick “Running Horse” Crowl and his son, Justin
“Running Pony”. It has been a rewarding year as the Cherokee Chief and I wanted
to thank all my brothers for the tremendous help you provided. The feathers are
being passed to a very capable new Chief who I am sure will do an outstanding
job.
If you
missed the drive in event, it was a good time on a beautiful night with a
strange movie.
Our next
event will be the Clay’s Park extravaganza on August 10th. If you haven’t been
to Clay’s park before, it is a favorite for the whole family. Please let me
know how many from your family will be attending before 8/8/08.
Comanche:
Tom “Fighting Eagle”
Knoebel 330-882-2387 TKnoebel@tribute.com
Tonka Hey
to the mighty Big-Medicine-leading Comanche Tribe!
Next
Nation event is the family picnic at Clay’s Park, and be sure to clear your
schedules now for the fall campout Sept 26-28. Camp Fitch will be a blast
and you don’t want to miss it! In the meantime, some of us are talking
about having a tribe get-together in August. Anyone want to volunteer
their house and yard for a few hours one weekend? Another family picnic
with some grillin’ and some cornhole sounds good to me! (No rain this
time though.)
Also, Jeff
needs to order the new tribe t-shirts so get you and your son’s sizes to him
ASAP so he can put the order in. Ask your wife what your son’s size is
because you know you don’t know. And be realistic guys – there aint none
of us in the tribe who fit in an adult medium any more!
Happy
birthday to Dylan “Red Wolf” Knisely who turns 6 years old on August 6th.
Dylan, it’s a Comanche tradition to save some cake and ice cream for your
CHIEF! (I like chocolate, with sprinkles, if you were wondering).
Also, the Comanche Tribe wishes a quick recovery to Adam “Broken Arm”
Schlosser. We hear a local hospital is naming its next addition the
“Schlosser Wing” in honor of the family that has done the most to keep it in
business!

Hey!...and a hearty OH….followed by a cheering IO…..to all the Manikiki
Nation!!!!
What a
great summer! The Creek Tribe has been having a lot of fun!
Football season will soon be upon us and we will be relocating down to the land
of the great spirits along the banks of the Olentangy.
The Creek
Tribe now has a satellite tribe in Germany! Steve “Stargazer” Rohweder
and his squaw Mia are moving the family to Europe to get better views of the
sky! We will miss Andrew and Eric and have told Steve when he returns the
“chief” feathers will be waiting for him!!! No one gets out of it that
easy!!! Good luck to the Rohweders and safe travels!
Happy
birthday to Tim “little mountain” Stroia
Hope to
see you all at the next event!!

and I had a great time at the drive-in movie. We stayed for both movies and could have walked home since it was
so close to our house. Thanks to the
Mandan tribe for a great event.
A big
thank you to Jack “Mustang” Daniels for stepping up to be the next chief. All you big braves can breathe easier for
another year. We are sponsoring the
fall camp out at Camp Fitch.
We will
have some planning meetings at the Crow bar. Please try to attend.
