1994 - 1995

Our first event of the year was the Ghoul Walk, held at Camp Y-Noah, Thursday, October 17, 1994. At the Ghoul Walk we had a pre-walk available for the younger braves at the beginning of the event. Attendance for the Ghoul Walk was 90%.

We had our first alternative fundraiser held Monday, December 14, 1994 at Guy’s Party Center. Dinner and a reverse raffle with sideboards were the main attraction. The Nation made close to $6,661. Our budget for 1994 – 1995 was $9,250. We had to sell candy to make up the difference. The candy sale brought in another $3,600 to go over our goal by $761.

Skating was held at Springfield Roller Rink November 21, 1994. Attendance was 73%. The Annual Banquet was held at Thomastown Party Center with the Animal Man doing a great job. The Outstanding Service Award winners were Mike Grimes, Don Suboticki and Don Thomas. There were three Joe Friday awards given: Paul Andrella, Marvin Capps and Joe Richardson. The Shawnee Tribe won Big Medicine Award. Attendance was 93%.

For January, our Nation went to Canton Invaders soccer game. Attendance was 89%. At the February Longhouse the Nation voted to send Paul Andrella and Ray Herrick, with their sons, to the 1995 National Longhouse held at Camp Seafarer, N.C. June 2 – 4 $300 per delegate. The bowling event, held in February, was at Fair Lanes Bowling Alley. Free pizza and pop were supplied, with 78% of the Nation attending.

In March we held the Swim Overnighter at the Canal Street YMCA. Attendance was 74%.

The Spring Campout was held at Camp Manatoc. The Camp Committee found this camp. The first night the Tonweya Indian Dancers entertained us. The events on Saturday were kids canoe and sack races. The camp provided a great dinner and lunch while most of the cooking was done by the tribes themselves. At the campfire all Nation officer’s sons participated for the first time. Attendance was 92%.

The June event was Akron-Canton Indians baseball with all Little Braves receiving a pennant. There were 90% of the Nation in attendance.

The July event was held at Pine Valley Lake Park with a live band, games and raffle for all members of the family. Attendance was 61%.

For the first time in Nation history we had a sanctioned August event which was at Buckeye Speedway. The Nation paid for the father's tickets and all children under 12 were free. There was a coin toss before the main event. Nation attendance was 47%.

The Fall Campout was held at Mohican Wilderness. Featured was a 5-mile canoe trip, pig roast and Nation t-shirt. At this event the entire Nation camped together in tents, vans and RV’s. We were also able to invite old Nation members. Nation attendance was 88%.

In September the Nation held recruitment at Kleckner School and Manchester United Methodist Church. The Nation recruited 34 new members.
