1988 - 1989
The nation Budget for 1989 was $5,350 from candy sales that amounted to $13,807.50. In January we
attended a Canton Invaders soccer game for the first time. This was a family event that was
enjoyed by all. This year instead of an overnighter at the Canal Place YMCA we had a swim party
there. The Nation council voted to buy fire rings for Camp Y-Noah. The Spring Campout was held at
Camp Y-Noah. Greg Rogers, Bob Bernat and Dan Atha attended the Great Lakes Region Convention and
brought back many ideas for the Nation. We made a change to the constitution to add the office
of Sachem to the Nation officers. We also added the Joe Friday Award for Big Braves. In July we
went to a Canton Akron Indians game for the first time, this was a family event. The Fall Campout
was held at Camp Y-Noah because of a conflict with Camp Tippecanoe. The Annual Banquet was held
at Thomastown Party Center. The Big Medicine Award went to the Arapaho. The Outstanding Service
Award went to John Wasco and the first Joe Friday Awards went to Phil First, Larry Wagner and
Dan Atha. Nation strength was 322 Little and Big Braves. Dues for 1988 – 1989 were $32 for
father and son; $9 for an additional and free for 3rd and above sons.
