1987 - 1988
The Nation budget for 1988 was $4,700 from candy sales that amounted to $11,625.50. In January we
attended a Cleveland Force soccer game. Unfortunately, this was the last year we could do this
because the Force was disbanded. The swim event was changed to an overnighter at the Canal Place
YMCA. Spring campout was held at Camp Y-Noah and the Arapaho brought in a group of Indian dancers
to perform after the campfire council. They were entertaining. We tried a new approach for the
July event. We tried our skill at the waterslides, tube run and pool at Dover Lake. We also made
a constitutional change to include two parade participations to make up one missed Nation event.
We participated in the Manchester, Canal Fulton and Uniontown Parades. Fall campout was held at
Camp Tippecanoe. The Big Medicine Award went to the Arapaho with the Outstanding Service award
going to Joe Sudomir. The Nation lost three tribes; Cherokee, Paiute (who merged with Apache)
and Navajo. Two new tribes were formed: Pontiac and Shoshoni. Nation strength was 259 Big and
Little Braves. Dues for 1987 – 1988 were $30 for father and son; $9 for an additional son and
free for 3rd and above sons.
