1980 - 1981
Budget for the year was $3,200. Gross Candy Sales were $12,923 with an income to the Nation of
$4,523. Mark Olson from the Seneca was the top seller with $1,031. The Volleyball Tournament was
held at the Manchester Middle School and was won by the Comanche. Spring Campout was again held
at the FFA Camp Muskingum. The 100% Participation rules were revised to allow new Little Braves
to miss the October event and still remain eligible for the award. Ralph Carpenter and Jim Ewing
attended the National Longhouse Meeting in Lexington, Kentucky. This was the first time anyone
from the Nation attended a National Longhouse meeting. The Nation initiated an Outstanding
Service Award for outgoing Big Braves to be given annually. Nominations of the candidates for the
award to be submitted by the tribes. Thirty-seven of 110 Little Braves qualified for the 100%
Participation Award which was a “Pals Forever Medallion”.
