1978 - 1979
The Nation Council voted to replace the Matchbox Derby with the Bowling event. Magic City Lanes
was the site of the first Bowling event. The budget was $3,950. There were excess funds in the
Nation Treasury and Nation sponsored a movie at the West Theater. A winter campout was discussed
as a possible Nation Event.
Gross sales for the Easter Candy Sale was $12,192, which netted the Nation about $4,348. Top
selling tribe was the Seneca with $2,051. Largest fish caught at the Spring Campout was 22” long
and caught by Mike Carpenter of the Mohawk. A committee investigated new camps as an alternate
to Tippecanoe for the Spring Campout. The FFA Camp-Muskingum was chosen for the 1980 Spring
Campout. The Nation approved the 100% Participation Award for the 1979-80 event year.
